The Australian Bodyboarding Association took over as the national governing body for the sport of Bodyboarding in 2014 and we were tasked with creating the brand identity and online portal for competitors to enter the competitions put on by the association.
Bodyboarding is an inclusive sport that has everyone from beginners playing in the shorebreaks all the way through to the most seasoned professionals pioneering some of the most death-defying waves on the planet. We wanted to embody that spectrum and so we developed a logo that showed the various shapes/sizes and also stages of a wave breaking. The brand identity is now synonymous with Australian Bodyboarding and has been used on everything from event sites & signage, t-shirts, rash vests and across a multitude of digital and social platforms.
We were then tasked with creating an online portal whereby competitors were able to sign up as a member and enter to compete in various competitions across the country. The site also showcases a running leaderboard of the Top 8 riders in the Pro Mens division while segregating news feeds for the various divisions (Pro Mens, Pro Junior, Dropknee, Womens and Big Wave Awards).
Each year we are tasked with creating a unified brand strategy for the various contests so they all look cohesive as one but also have their own identity to suit the area and the sponsors that get behind each competition. The artwork shown is from the 2016 circuit.
