BlackMilk burst onto the fashion scene back in 2009 through its unique style and an uncompromised approach to creating something different for women everywhere.
Not only are they a body-positive brand, creating outstanding pieces for women of all shapes and sizes, they support ethical manufacturing (with a substantial in-house manufacturing team and a strict ethical manufacturing standard for their global partners) and they also recycle and repurpose their excess cuttings with other local manufacturers.
We've been working with BlackMilk Clothing for the past six years to develop the creative and art direction for their fortnightly collections. They are a uniquely different brand that values creativity to really bring their imagination to life. Having worked with the team for so long, it is a truly collaborative approach, from naming their collections to designing the look and feel of the campaigns, logos, lookbooks, and all the various digital assets.
Every fortnight, sometimes every week, we'll have an incoming collection campaign to work on with the in-house marketing team. Based on the collection theme, we help develop a design for the campaign and then start developing the campaign rollout. Other times, the in-house team has a solid idea and just briefs us straight in, knowing full well that we can execute whatever their idea.
Armed with great images and a solid brief, we generally start with the logo design and socials as they are the first things that people will see. From there we develop the entire campaign look and feel through designing the heavily themed lookbook. From there we are able to develop all the other assets needed to roll out a successful digital campaign.
The fast-paced nature of an e-commerce business, coupled with a highly creative brand and approach keeps us on our toes and keeps us inspired week after week to create incredible work.
We've been lucky enough to help the team to unify the BlackMilk brand and what we think are some of the biggest and most recognisable licenses in the world. As you'll see below with the the multitude of work we've created over the years, we've created some really incredible and intriguing campaigns - a creative's dream come true.
